Speed read: I had worked for Rail Europe as a designer part-time whilst at University and turned full time after graduating. I was the sole designer and worked in-house with across departments but mostly with ecommerce on the public and trade facing websites.
In detail: In August 2009 Rail Europe undertook a redesign of the public facing website. With support and consultency from London agency, Design UK. My role as the inhouse designer was to work from the initial screen designs DUK had provided tweak them to our requirements and design all of the remaining pages with guidelines and artworked examples for our off-shore development team to work on. Due to the large scale of the site I utilised wireframes and estate diagrams to better plan the sites design as contingency (method of defence) in interdepartmental wars.
Further work I undertook involved the design of emails, flash banners, various advertising graphics, and the building and sourcing of our own image library. The site has now been live for about a year - www.raileurope.co.uk
