My shiney new site!

New and old site

Speed read: Since deciding to leave my last position and look for a new job I decided to design and build a new portfolio site. As well as a platform to promote myself it gave me an opportunity to learn xHTML & CSS enhancing my range of production skills, widening possible job opportunities more so.

In detail: At the end of uni I made a Flash based site to showcase my work up to that point (www.edotking.com). I set out and learnt some ActionScript 2 and build quite a simple, clean site which allowed me to add new work and host my CV. Although pretty basic it had a crisp organised look and lively feel to compliment the energy I had at the time of leaving uni. It did the trick and landed me an internship and a job. Since leaving Rail Europe and renewing my job hunt I decided I needed a new site to showcase my work and hopfully some design skills.

This new site had to be easily updatable, and include a blog so people could learn a bit more about my interests and generally a bit more about me. An HTML site was most suited to these needs and having only previously dabbled with html emails it seemed like a good opportunity to learn some xHTML & CSS. As you can see the site is finally up, works, and looks good (if I say so myself). And along with a new URL with the extra 'd' finally people will understand how to type 'ed dot king dot com'. Anyway its been emotional, I've learnt a lot by my self on this one but have had invaluable help from a cracking young Developer called Ian Dickety and general help & support from my lovely lady / Digital Designer Jo Butler - Cheers! The beers are on me.
